Protocol Engineer (Golang)

As a Protocol Engineer, you'll work at the firmware level, improving Winston's proprietary privacy mesh network. This P2P protocol enables Winston units to transparently locate other devices, self-organize into hybrid networks and exchange bandwidth in order to obfuscate our users' internet activity from the prying eyes of advertisers, trackers, hackers and other bad actors.

What you’ll do:
  • Optimize discovery and routing protocols with the goal of maximizing P2P bandwidth and reducing latency
  • Develop REST APIs to enable communication between the firmware and other connected apps (web extensions, dashboard and the upcoming Winston mobile app).
  • Benchmark and improve performance and responsiveness
  • Develop unit and functional tests to reduce the frequency and impact of regressions
  • Strongly influence the future direction of our product as we grow

Other

  • Strong engineering fundamentals, including knowledge of algorithms and data structures
  • Advanced proficiency with Golang or C
  • Prior experience working with Linux on routers or embedded devices
  • Past experience with Ethereum P2P library a plus
  • Ability to debug and optimize complex and concurrent code
  • Believer in Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional work experience
